Everyone hates a quitter — except when it comes to smoking.
In observance of the American Cancer Society’s national anti-tobacco campaign, the Great American Smokeout, Marine Corps Community Services’ Health Promotions department is doing all it can to help assist Marines, sailors, and their family members quit using tobacco.
“Above losing weight and giving up alcohol, quitting tobacco is the very best thing you can do for your body,” according to the director of MCCS’ Wellness Department, Patti Onthank.
The Great American Smokeout is a national campaign that encourages tobacco users to quit their habit for 24 hours — with the hope their decision will last forever. The campaign, now in its 33rd year, is observed each year during the third Thursday of November — this year on Nov. 20.
